Theocratic State
Vethara
Vethara is the largest single independent nation in Nirah, and in many ways the most internally coherent. It is governed by belief more than codified law — the psionic field is not studied here as a physical phenomenon but experienced as doctrine, a divine veil that separates the mortal from the sacred. Ancient temples define the capital, their stone humming with resonant energy accumulated across centuries of ritual use.
Rice fields spread across the rural south. Population is distributed across vast distances but connected by shared spiritual practice in a way that formal administrative structures alone rarely achieve. Vethara has rarely needed to look outward, and its governance reflects this: self-sufficient, slow to change, and resistant to the kind of external political pressure that has reshaped more porous nations.
The animalistic trait lineages — fox ears, heightened senses, PIO predispositions sharper than most populations — persist in regions like Laskheir, where ancient practices continue behind closed doors. What was once framed as nobility has been recoded as survival: the remnant of a history of violent culling, carried quietly forward in places where the old ways were never fully abandoned.
Gobira, operating under Pale Accord jurisdiction within Vethara's borders, represents the one point at which Vethara engages with the world's current crisis directly — hosting negotiations between parties that would not otherwise share a table.
Current Political Status
Stable. Self-contained. Gobira functions as active neutral diplomatic ground under Pale Accord framework. Vethara itself has not committed to any faction in the current conflict.
