The Valdric Reaches

The Valdric Reaches occupy the eastern edge of Dravarn where administration dissolves into the field. Sparsely populated, partially evacuated following historical Veil Strata activity, and economically sustained primarily by Freeband access and smuggling networks, the Reaches represent the furthest extent of Dravarn's nominal governance.

The Yevuun Freeband's eastern terminus before it reaches the Strata sits within this territory — a node that gives the Reaches commercial relevance they would not otherwise possess. Beyond the Freeband terminus, governance dissolves entirely into the Veil Strata's ungoverned zones.

Some settlements in the Reaches remain, held together by Freeband proximity and the quiet pragmatism of people who have chosen to live at the edge of administered territory rather than abandon what they know. What they know includes the sounds the Strata makes at night — frequencies that Psions in the area have described and that the Institute's official records have consistently declined to classify.
